A doctor is not allowed to see the ex-coordinator of Navalny’s headquarters in Khabarovsk, Alexey Vorsin, who is under house arrest due to a criminal case under the “Dada” article on repeated violations of the procedure for holding public events (Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code). He is also not allowed to call an ambulance. Khabarovsk oppositionist Andrei Pastukhov reported this on May 20, citing Vorsin’s lawyer Larisa Bogatyreva.
According to the lawyer, Vorsin may be sick with coronavirus. Bogatyreva, who recently had contact with an oppositionist, was confirmed to have COVID-19. Despite this, the former coordinator of Navalny’s Khabarovsk headquarters is not allowed to call a doctor and get a test; he continues to be taken for interrogations instead of the required quarantine. “Thus, not only his health is at risk, but also the health of his loved ones,” Bogatyreva said.
- The initiation of a case under the “Dada” article against Alexey Vorsin became known on March 19: after a search, he was detained and taken to the Investigative Committee for interrogation. The next day, the oppositionist was placed under house arrest.
- Vorsin regularly faced pressure due to his participation in protests. In 2020, he was detained and arrested several times in connection with rallies in support of ex-governor of the region Sergei Furgal, and in 2021 - in connection with rallies in support of Alexei Navalny. In addition, he talked about external surveillance .
- Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code punishes for violating the procedure for holding public events if a person, at the time of initiation of the case, has several decisions that have entered into force under Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses on relevant violations within six months. The first person convicted under Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code was activist Ildar Dadin; after his case, the Constitutional Court recommended that cases be initiated only if the actions of the alleged violator constituted a threat to society.
