Einstein's letter with the formula E = mc² was sold at auction for $ 1.2 million

The letter of the scientist Albert Einstein, containing the formula E = mc², was sold at the USA for $ 1.2 million. It is reported by the BBC.

The total amount that the buyer paid for the letter was three times higher than the experts predicted.

The letter in German dates from October 26, 1946, it is addressed to the physics of Ludwinka Zilrstein, who disputed some theories of Einstein. The letter was part of the archive sold by Zilrstein's relatives.

In total, only four Einstein’s handwritten texts are known in the world, which contain the formula E = mc².
