The Moscow City Court upheld the sentence of one year in prison for the defendant in the “palace case” Alexei Milyaev. This was reported by MBKH Media with reference to the press service of the court.
“The appellate court changed the verdict in terms of material evidence; DVDs and CDs with video recordings were ordered to be kept in the criminal case; the rest of the verdict was left unchanged,” the court said.
According to investigators, on January 23, Milyaev took part in a fight with a police officer on Pushkin Square, hit the officer several times while on duty and tried to rip off his helmet.
- Earlier, the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow sentenced Milyaev to a year in a general regime colony. He was found guilty of using violence not dangerous to health against a government official (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code). The case was considered in a special manner without studying the evidence and questioning witnesses, since Milyaev fully admitted his guilt. The prosecutor requested 2.5 years in prison for Alexey Milyaev.
- In connection with the rallies in support of Alexei Navalny, which took place from January 23 to February 2, at least 90 criminal cases were opened across the country. Protest participants were accused of using violence against security forces (Article 318 of the Criminal Code), violating sanitary and epidemiological rules (Part 1 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code), involving minors in illegal activities (Part 2 of Article 151.2 of the Criminal Code), and blocking roads (Article 267 of the Criminal Code).
