Google does not sufficiently filter the content banned in Russia and does not delete from 20 to 30 % of links to such information, so Roskomnadzor does not exclude the slowdown in the company's traffic. It is reported by TASS with reference to the department.
The press service of the department said that the service does not delete links to sites of terrorist and extremist organizations, sites with pornographic images of minors, as well as on online drugs for the sale of drugs. It is also about calls for suicide and to participate in illegal actions.
The department noted that Google is currently leading by the number of unsteady unlawful content, which "harms Russian users." The RKN said that they sent more than 26 thousand notifications of the need to delete illegal information.
Among the unsteady content there are videos on creating conditions for growing narcotic substances, with scenes of brutal killings of animals, calling for violence containing materials of terrorist and extremist organizations, the statement said. The company threatens a fine of 800 thousand to 4 million rubles, if it does not respond to the notifications of Roskomnadzor about the removal of prohibited information within a day.
Claims of the RKN are also addressed to YouTube. The service did not delete about 5 thousand prohibited materials, 3.5 thousand of which contains “calls for extremism”.
Earlier for the same reasons, Roskomnadzor slowed down Twitter. After that, the company removed more than 91 % of prohibited content. As a result, Roskomnadzor decided not to block Twitter, but threatened Facebook and YouTube sanctions.
“Paper” spoke with the head of the legal practice of the public project “Roskomsvobod” by Sarkis Darbinyan that the slowdown in Twitter means for the Russian Internet.
