
At the end of May, Petersburg celebrates the 318th anniversary. More than 200 events are planned this year, most of them will be offline. However, from large -scale events, only the show "Classic on the Palace" will be held. This time, the authorities do not plan to organize salute and parades on Nevsky. In May, in St. Petersburg there will be more than 200 events dedicated to the City Day. Most will take place on the eve of the holiday. These are mainly district concerts, excursions, lectures and sports.
Large events preceding the city day are planned a little:
On the night of May 27 (at 1:10), the "Petersburg Diary" is organized by the action "Singing Bridges": the palace will be divorced under the "Anthem of the Great City". A laser projection dedicated to St. Petersburg, as well as the 200th anniversary of the birth of Fedor Dostoevsky and Nikolai Nekrasov, the 100th anniversary of the Nobel laureate Andrei Sakharov and the 800th anniversary of Alexander Nevsky, will appear on the wing of the bridge.
One of the key events will take place at 10 o’clock at the Peter and Paul Fortress: during the ceremony, flowers will be laid to the grave of Peter the Great. Flowers can also be brought to the monument to Peter on Senate Square.
In the Oktyabrsky BKZ, Denis Matsuev’s jazz gala concert will begin at 19 o’clock. Festive programs are also scheduled for the Vyborg Palace of Culture, the Anichkov Palace and the Youth Theater - Emir Kusturitsa with The No Smoking Orchestra will perform in the latter.
This time they do not plan to arrange a salute in honor of the holiday, they told the “paper” in the press service of the culture committee, although some media wrote that it would take place on May 27 at 22 hours.
In terms of events, there is also no parade of drummers on Nevsky Prospekt, which is traditionally held on the City Day. The organizing committee of the event reports that it will be held on June 12-in honor of Russia Day and the start of Euro 2020. A large bicycle parade will not take place this year.
The main festive events are scheduled for Friday May 28. On this day, the show “Classic on Palace” will be held on Palace Square. Among the opera artists who will perform on stage are American Angel Blue, South African singer Prutty Jende, American Charles Castronovo, Maltese Joseph Calley, Uruguayan Erwin Shtt and soloist Bolshoi Theater Anna Goryacheva.
The Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Shostakovich Philharmonic, Youth Choir “Consent” and soloists of the Academy of Young Opera Singers of the Mariinsky Theater, the Mikhailovsky Theater and the Zlavrakale theater will also perform.
The show will begin at 21:30. It will be possible to get to the Palace Square by free electronic tickets available here (one person can purchase a maximum of four tickets).
Another big concert will be held at the Oktyabrsky BKZ at 18 o’clock. True, you can get on it only by invitation, but the broadcast will be shown on the St. Petersburg television channel. Russian stars will take part: Sergey Bezrukov, Mikhail Boyarsky, Tatyana Bulanova, Igor Kornelyuk, Elena Vaenga, Stas Piekha and others.
Already at midnight on May 24, the carriageway will be narrowed in a singing passage - along the houses 4 and 6-8 along Palace Square. The restriction will be valid until 16 hours on May 30. At midnight on May 24, they will also be banned from parking on Millionnaya Street from Palace Square to Moshkov Lane - the ban will be removed by the end of the day on May 28.
On the day of the festive concert on Palace on May 28 from 8:00 to 23:59, they will block the singing passage along the houses of 4 and 6-8 along Palace Square, travel from singing passage to Millionnaya Street, as well as Millionnaya Street from Palace Square to Moshkov.
