Due to the sanctions that the Belavia Belarusian airline was subjected to, the air carrier will have to optimize the costs and staff, but there are no mass reductions, Interfax-West reports.

“In the circumstances that have developed today, the decrease in costs, as well as the declaration of downtime or optimization of the number of personnel are unpleasant, albeit regular steps. At the same time, we want to pay attention that in this situation, personnel decisions can be made only on the recommendation of the heads of units and only taking into account the current volume of work,” the agency told the airline.

At the same time, "about 50% of reductions is not talking," the company said.

“Unfortunately, due to circumstances, which are not dependent on the airline, Belavia is now forced to cancel dozens of flights to the peak of the season. The situation is complicated by the fact that the carrier has recently begun to recover after mass cancellations of flights due to the pandemic in 2020. I would like to note that there were no personnel contractions in the midst of the epidemic. And reduction in work schedules, ”the carrier emphasizes.

Representatives of the carrier believe that "in the current circumstances" the optimization of the number of personnel is a logical step. Belavia has already canceled flights to Paris and London (on October 30), as well as to Lithuania (on June 26) and Ukraine (August 31).

Earlier in his Telegram channel, Belarusian blogger Anton Moloko wrote about reduction in the airline. He published an order to reduce the costs of Belavia, and later wrote: "They report about 50%reduction."

The day before, Reuters, citing a request received by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), reported that the Belarusian air carrier may prohibit access to European airports. A friend of Protasevich, a citizen of Russia, a student of the Vilnius European Humanitarian University Sofia Sapga, was also detained.

On Monday, the EU summit decided to ban Belarusian aviation to fly over the territory of the European Union. Some airlines began to send flights to the flight of Belarus. The European Council said that he expects an event in Minsk as an unprecedented and unacceptable from the International Civil Aviation Organization Organization.

Prior to this, the UK suspended permission to perform Belavia flights, as well as other Belarusian air carriers, including charter companies. The French authorities made a similar decision.
