Former journalist "Kommersant" Ivan Safronov was upheld by detention

The Moscow City Court upheld the extension of the arrest of the former businessman "Kommersant" Ivan Safronov. This was reported in the telegram channel of his lawyer Ivan Pavlov.

At the end of April, the Lefortovo District Court extended Safronov a detention for two months until July 7. By this moment, he will be in jail for a year.

Safronov is accused under the article on the Stateizer (Article 275 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, he transmitted information about the military-technical cooperation of Russia with the countries of Africa, as well as information about the activities of the Armed Forces in the Middle Eastern region. The investigation believes that the journalist was recruited by the Czech special services, however, according to the defense, no evidence has yet presented this.

Lawyer Ivan Pavlov notes that for the first time the investigator in the case of Safronov, Alexander Chaban, did not appear at the court. The lawyer considers the chaban the customer of the criminal case against himself under the article on the disclosure of the data of the preliminary investigation (Article 310 of the Criminal Code), writes OVD-Info . According to the decision on the initiation of the case, Pavlov, without the permission of the investigator, handed over to Vedomosti, and also posted a copy of the decision on the attraction of Safronov as the accused on the team of “team 29”. Pavlov is prohibited by certain actions , in particular, he cannot use the means of communication.

Ivan Safronov is a former journalist of Kommersant and Vedomosti, at the time of the arrest he served as an adviser to the head of Roscosmos. The persecution of Safronov is associated with his journalistic activity, he was engaged in the coverage of the work of the military-industrial complex. Safronov was detained on July 7, 2020, the FSB officers as part of the Stateismman case. On the same day, the court sent him to a pre -trial detention center.
