Sales of new electric vehicles in Russia in April grew eight times

In April 2021, 195 new electric cars were sold in Russia, eight times more than in April last year (24 pieces). In total, in January-April this year, 502 new electric cars were sold on the Russian market, 6.5 times more than a year earlier (77 pieces). This was reported by the Avtostat agency.

The report notes that 80% of the sales of new electric vehicles in April fell on three models: Porsche Taycan (85 pieces), Audi E-Tron (39 pieces) and Tesla Model 3 (32 pieces). Also in April, 13 Nissan Leaf electric vehicles were sold in Russia, 10 JAC IEV7S electric cars, 6 Tesla Model X electric vehicles, 5 JAGUAR I-PACE cars, 2 Tesla Model Y Electricians and one Chevrolet Bolt, Kia Niro and Tesla Model S.

Experts associate the growth of electric vehicles in April with a low base - a year ago, sales of cars as a whole and electric vehicles in particular collapsed due to quarantine authorities.

Over 40% of the sales of new electric cars in April was in Moscow (80 pieces), about 11% - for St. Petersburg (21 pieces). Next are the Sverdlovsk region (13 pieces), Moscow region (11 pieces) and Krasnodar Territory (9 pieces). In 37 regions, from 1 to 5 new electric vehicles were purchased.

Recall that the other day it became known that the working group under the Ministry of Economy prepared the draft program "Highly Automated Electric Transport in Cities", which provides that 418 billion rubles will be spent on the development of electric vehicles, including 153.5 billion rubles from the budget and extra -budgetary funds. The plan provides that in 2022, the share of electric vehicles on the Russian car market should amount to 1.7% with total sales of cars of 1.8 million pieces, and by 2030 - 15% (with a car market volume of 2.5 million pieces). By 2030, the total electric car park should be 1.5 million.

In 2020, a total of 687 new electric vehicles were sold in Russia, 95% more than a year earlier. Despite almost two -time sales growth, electric cars occupied approximately 0.04% of the Russian market of new cars.
