The court fined Facebook 26 million rubles for failure to remove prohibited content

A Russian court has fined Facebook 26 million rubles for failing to remove banned content. Earlier today, Google was fined 6 million rubles for the same reason.

Eight protocols were drawn up against Facebook. For two of them, fines in the amount of 4 million rubles were imposed, for the remaining six - 3 million rubles each. Against Google, the court considered three protocols, each for 2 million rubles.

• On June 10, four more protocols on non-removal of prohibited content will be considered against Facebook.

• Five protocols against Google will be considered on June 1. The day before, Roskomnadzor threatened the company with slowing down traffic due to insufficient removal of materials with information prohibited in Russia.

• In addition, six protocols regarding Twitter are scheduled for consideration on May 27.
