In Krasnodar, the court upheld the sentence of Jehovah's Witnesses

The Krasnodar Regional Court upheld the conviction against Jehovah's Witness Oleg Danilov, according to the website “Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia”.

On March 30, the Abinsky District Court of the Krasnodar Territory sentenced Danilov to three years in prison with a one-year restriction of freedom under the article on participation in the activities of a banned organization (Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The believer does not admit his guilt and intends to appeal the verdict in the court of cassation.

The site clarifies that the FSB officer cited “a poster with biblical quotes and homemade postcards” as evidence of the defendant’s extremist activities.

• In February, 63-year-old Jehovah's Witness from the village of Kholmskaya, Alexander Ivshin, was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison. He was found guilty of organizing the activities of an extremist organization (Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code).
• In April, another resident of the village, Alexander Shcherbina, was sentenced to three years in a general regime colony. He was found guilty under the article on participation in the activities of an extremist organization (Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code).
• On April 20, 2017, the Supreme Court recognized the “Administrative Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia” as an extremist organization, liquidated it and banned its activities in Russia. In August of the same year, all Jehovah's Witnesses organizations were added to the list of prohibited organizations. After this, criminal cases began to be opened en masse against believers.
