How the city is celebrated in St. Petersburg

The 318th anniversary of the city is celebrated in St. Petersburg. The parades on Nevsky and the salute were canceled, but some events still took place. On Senate Square and in the Peter and Paul Fortress, flowers were laid in memory of Peter the Great, on the palace bridge to classical music, images of city attractions were projected. And on Palace Square, dozens of Petersburgers participated in a flash mob with mass reading of newspapers, breaking the Russian record.

At night, the palace bridge was divorced under the “anthem of the great city” and other classic compositions. Images dedicated to the 318th anniversary of St. Petersburg, as well as the 200th anniversary of the birth of Fedor Dostoevsky and Nikolai Nekrasov, the 100th anniversary of the Nobel laureate Andrei Sakharov and the 800th anniversary of Alexander Nevsky, were projected to the target of the bridge.

The day before, an international book interior opened on Palace Square. Petersburgers came to the event, despite the rain.

And on May 27, hundreds of people with deployed newspapers stood on Palace - this is a flash mob organized by Komsomolskaya Pravda. According to the publication, the expert of the Book of Records of Russia recorded a record for mass reading of the newspaper (yes, it seems that such a category really exists).

Two solemn ceremonies were held in the city. Representatives of the city administration laid flowers to the monument to Peter the Great on Senate Square, as well as to the tombstone of the founder of St. Petersburg in the Peter and Paul Fortress. The ceremony was held according to the accompaniment of the choir (and for some reason the participants were without masks).

In addition, in honor of the holiday in St. Petersburg, Rostral columns were lit.
