Earlier, Sigal was a member of the Party of Zakhara Prilepin for truth, which in February united with “fair Russia” and “patriots of Russia”. Sigal received a party ticket from the hands of the chairman of the party Sergey Mironov.
The official representative of the Fair Russia - for the truth, "Elizabeth Kondakova told RBC that Sigal submitted his first bill to protect the ecology. The Sigal Law provides for the introduction of real terms and the deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions for environmental pollution.
In a conversation with “open media” Kondakova added that the actor does not intend to limit himself to one bill and will continue to oversee the environmental direction in the party.
“Among the fans of Stephen Sigal there are probably many people with different political views. We, of course, do not count on the support of all his fans [during the upcoming elections to the State Duma], but we expect to attract eco -activists and people who are not indifferent to nature,” said Sergey Mironov RT , explaining what expects the sigal entering the party.
The press service of the Fair Russia-for Trud party reported that Sigal itself would not run for the State Duma due to the presence of American citizenship. Political scientist Mikhail Vinogradov noted that Sigal "remains a businessman who makes rational commercial decisions," therefore, he probably "found a commercial component in activity in the Russian party."
"Therefore, the party shows that it is ready to spend money on celebrities, and celebrities react with pleasure to this. There is no great meaningful meaning to this," the expert said on the air of the Echo of Moscow radio station.
Steven Sigal became a Russian citizen in 2016, President Vladimir Putin personally handed him a passport. In 2018, the actor was appointed special representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry on Russian-American humanitarian ties and general cultural and historical heritage. In the same year, Sigal expressed his readiness to becomethe governor of the Primorsky Territory .
