The government proposed to provide the Ministry of Justice with access to bank secrecy to strengthen control over NPOs

The government has submitted a bill to the State Duma proposing to provide the Ministry of Justice with access to bank secrecy to strengthen financial control over non-profit organizations. The bill was published on the parliament website.

Now the Bank of Russia, heads and employees of state corporations, pension funds, social and health insurance funds, insurance, credit, audit and other organizations have access to bank secrets.

The Ministry of Justice prepared amendments to the Federal Law “On Banks and Banking Activities” back in January. The head of the State Duma Committee for the Development of Civil Society, Sergei Gavrilov, said that the bill will help “build a full-fledged civil society in Russia, which will act as a partner of the state.”
