The VEB.rf state corporation will allocate 97 billion rubles to the regions for the installation of a safe city video recording system that collects information about incidents using various programs. It is reported by Kommersant.

Web.rf, together with Rostelecom and Rostec, developed a scheme for financing the Safe City project in the regions. According to the publication, Rostec will release spare parts for devices, Rostelecom employees will develop programs and provide contact, and VEB.rf will allocate up to three billion rubles for the hardware and software complex. In Rostec, the publication confirmed information about the development of the project, VEB.rf clarified that ideas are "in the initial stage of study."

According to The Bell , earlier the regions were not interested in developing the video recording systems “safe city” due to lack of funds and lack of sanctions for refusing to operate such a hardware and software complex.

The “safe city” began to actively use during the “self-isolation regime” because of the coronavirus and on shares in support of the politician Alexei Navalny.
