Chita: The court allowed the Baptist not to serve in the army

The Central District Court of Chita recognized the right of a local resident to replace military service on calling an alternative civil service. Earlier, the young man tried to prove that he could not pick up weapons on religious beliefs, the press service of the court reports.

According to the report, in the fall of 2020, the draft commission refused a young man to replace military service with an alternative. Representatives of the military registration and enlistment office indicated that, in their opinion, the conscript did not prove his beliefs. The court considered this position illegal.

According to the court, the young man insisted that military service contradicts his religion, since he professes Baptism.

According to the conscript, he studies the Bible and tries to follow its principles in life, so he cannot pick up weapons and take a military oath. The plaintiff provided confirming documents, indicated people who could act as witnesses and confirm his beliefs.
