Germany rejected the idea of supplying weapons to Ukraine

German Foreign Minister Haiko Maas spoke strongly against the supply of weapons to Ukraine. The conflict in eastern Ukraine can only have a political decision, and this approach will remain unchanged. “The supply of weapons will not help in this,” Maas said during a video conference with Foreign Ministers of NATO countries.

Maas recalled that since 2014, Germany allocated almost two billion euros for non -military expenses to Ukraine, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been participating in negotiations on a peaceful settlement in the Donbass in the Norman format.

Earlier this week, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with the newspaper Frankfurter AllGemeine Zeitung made it clear that Kyiv would like to receive military assistance from Berlin. Ukraine is interested in patrol boats, automatic weapons, radio communications and armored vehicles, Zelensky noted.
