Based on the so -called media - foreign agents, the VTIMES business publication has announced the closure of June 12. The statement says that it does not want to work in the niche of "opposition political media" and put up employees in jeopardy.

VTIMES is an information and analytical site created in 2020 by journalists who previously worked in the newspaper Vedomosti before it was purchased by the new owner. Money for the project, stated, was collected from future readers.

Now the statement says that the voluntary donations of readers, from the point of view of the editor, are not enough to finance the publication of high -quality media.

Advertisers and partners do not understand how to cooperate with the“ Ino-Agent ”, and we cannot condemn them for it,” the text says. It is separately said that with the media from the register of media-foreign agents, officials, businessmen and analysts are afraid to communicate, without which the preparation of materials is difficult.

“By our own example, we were convinced: the authorities do not need professional and uncontrolled media,” the editorial office concludes. It is noted that VTIMES planned to create a "platform for free exchange of constructive opinions" and "find positive examples and ideas for the development of business and society."

Recently, the Medusa publication was included in the list. It challenged this decision in court. Inclusion on the list imposes a number of responsibilities on the media that critically complicate their work.
• In May, the Russian legal entity Radio Liberty and its CEO Andrei Shari filed a lawsuit against Russia due to the application of the law on media-regents. The plaintiffs are sure that the application of this legislation violates the articles of the European Convention on Human Rights.
• The press secretary of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at the discussion of the situation with the media-foreign agents in Russia at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, said that she did not know why the publication was closed and suggested that this happened for economic reasons.
