The prosecutor requested four years in prison for a Crimean Tatar activist in Ukraine

The prosecutor asked for four years in prison and a fine of 200 thousand rubles for the Crimean Tatar activist Edem Bekirov, who is accused of illegal trafficking in weapons and explosives . Bekirov left Russia in September 2019 as a result of an exchange of persecuted persons between the Russian and Ukrainian sides. It is reported by "Crimean solidarity".

At a meeting in the Central District Court of Simferopol, the state prosecutor said that Bekirov's guilt had been fully proven. The activist's defense believes that the prosecutor did not try to analyze the available evidence.

The investigation believes that Edem Bekirov, a disabled person of the first group, arrived in Crimea with a bag filled with 12 kg of TNT and 200 rounds of ammunition, and asked the taxi driver to hide it. The taxi driver, according to the prosecution, hid the bag, but, without waiting for it to be taken away, told the FSB everything. Bekirov spent more than 8 months in a pre-trial detention center. Before being placed under arrest, he suffered a heart attack and a leg amputation.

On September 7, 2019, Edem Bekirov returned to the territory of Ukraine as a result of an exchange of persecuted persons between the Russian and Ukrainian sides. His case was suspended, but on May 14, 2020, the court decided to resume the process.
