Rosstat calculated the median salary of Russians for 2020. It amounted to 32,422 rubles - one and a half times lower than the average

The median monthly salary in Russia in 2020 was 32,422 rubles. According to data published by Rosstat, this is 6.4% higher than in 2019.

As RBC notes, the median salary was calculated for the first time using a new methodology — based on Pension Fund data on accrued insurance contributions from salaries. This allowed the agency to take into account salaries in small businesses and individual entrepreneurs.

The minimum wage in Russia has been calculated based on the median salary since 2021 - it should be 42% of the value obtained by Rosstat. After the publication of the data, the Ministry of Labor reported that the minimum wage in 2022 will be 13,617 rubles.
