UEFA allowed the phrase “Glory to Heroes” on the uniform of the Ukrainian national team at the European Championship, but asked to cover it up

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) allowed to leave the slogan "Glory to the Heroes" on the uniform of the Ukrainian football team at the European Championship. This was announced on Facebook by the head of the Football Association of Ukraine (UAF) Andriy Pavelko.

“Another element will be added to the previously approved design, on the inside of the T-shirts. This was approved in the morning by the executive committee of the UAF: a large emblem of the national teams with a map of Ukraine, a trident and another inscription "Glory to Ukraine". The slogan "Glory to the Heroes" will be placed on the map, in the center of Ukraine's borders.

UEFA TASS clarified that they were asked to cover the slogan "Glory to the Heroes" on the uniform. They added that the UEFA delegates will check this before each match.

The day before, on June 10, UEFA demanded that the Ukrainian national team remove the inscription “Glory to the Heroes” from the form at the European Championship. The association decided that the combination of two slogans - "Glory to Ukraine" and "Glory to the Heroes" - "is clearly considered political in nature, having historical and militaristic significance."
