The prosecutor requested a fine of 80 thousand rubles for Artem Sazonov, accused of attacking a security officer at a rally in support of Alexei Navalny on January 23 in Kursk. A listener of the meeting reported this to OVD-Info.
During the interrogation, the injured policeman asked to give the accused a lenient sentence. Sazonov admitted guilt. According to him, he did not participate in the action, but intervened when he saw security forces beating a protester, and he himself hit a riot policeman.
Sazonov asks to be given a suspended sentence in the amount of time served under arrest. Sazonov's sentence will be announced on June 17 at 10:30 in the Leninsky District Court of Kursk.
According to investigators, Sazonov “jumped on the back of a riot police officer with a running start and kicked him” when the security officer was detaining another protest participant. He is accused under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code - violence against a government official.
