The Kirovsky District Court of Astrakhan, during a hearing on June 11, found guilty under the article on participation in an uncoordinated rally (Part 5 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code), 72-year-old local resident, member of the PARNAS party, Sergei Shcherbakov, who held a rally in support of Alexei Navalny 4 June. The pensioner asked the court to postpone the hearing, since due to illness he could not participate in the consideration of the case at the appointed time, but the court ignored this request. Shcherbakov was fined in his absence in the amount of 10 thousand rubles.
A supporter of the opposition politician plans to challenge the district court's decision.
- Shcherbakov was detained on the morning of June 4. He went to the picket with a poster “Happy birthday Alexey, freedom for political prisoners.” The police department drew up a report on him.
- Opposition leader Alexei Navalny was taken into custody in early February, after returning to Russia - the court replaced his suspended sentence with a real one in the Yves Rocher case. According to the court decision, he will spend two and a half years in prison. The politicianwas transferred to correctional colony No. 2 in the Vladimir region.
- In connection with the detention of Alexei Navalny, a series of protests took place throughout Russia. The largest protests took place on Saturday, January 23, and Sunday, January 31. Security forces reacted harshly to the protests: on January 23, more than 4,000 people were detained, and on January 31, more than 5,500 . On the day the FSIN petition was considered, arrests also took place near the Moscow City Court building, including journalists.
