The United States is preparing new sanctions against Russia in connection with the poisoning of Alexei Navalny, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told CNN.
“We are preparing another package of sanctions that will apply in connection with this situation,” Sullivan said. He noted that Washington will impose sanctions due to the use of chemical weapons when it realizes that it "hit the right targets."
Also, according to Sullivan, the United States will continue to impose sanctions on companies participating in the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project.
Update. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on Sullivan's words, said that "our logical response has always followed the illegal actions of the United States."
