Putin announces update of medical workers' pay system

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the system of remuneration of medical workers in Russia will be changed.

“The new system of remuneration in healthcare must provide for the same basic salary for all regions and, on top of that, a clear, transparent list of additional payments and allowances,” the president said in his address on the occasion of Medical Worker’s Day.

Putin also reported that almost 1.2 million medical workers received payments for their work during the pandemic , and the state allocated a total of 350 billion rubles for these purposes. Putin noted that incentive payments for work with coronavirus will continue.

• At the end of May, Kommersant reported that the Russian Ministry of Labor had developed a pilot project, following which Russia plans to introduce a new system of remuneration for medical workers. From November 2021 to March 2022, medical workers in seven regions will be paid salaries calculated according to new principles. It is assumed that the size of salaries will depend on the employee's position and the level of economic development of the region, while the salary cannot be made less than the current level.
