In Florida, a pickup truck ran over LGBT Pride participants. One person died

One person died and another was injured after a car hit people before the start of the LGBT Pride in the city of Wilton Manors in Florida, USA.

According to the WPLG Local 10 News channel, on the evening of June 19, a white pickup truck ran into two men standing nearby, after which it crashed into a flower shop. The police detained the driver and interrogated him, he declared an accident.

The hit was carried out by a man wearing a Fort Lauderdale Gay Men's Chorus T-shirt, an organization of gay musicians from the city of Fort Lauderdale. Both the victims and the detainee were members of the organization, its representative said. In his opinion, what happened was not an attack against LGBT people.

Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis, who attended the event, said the driver of the pickup truck missed the car of Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz by several inches. The mayor believes it was a deliberate attack against congresswomen and "an act of terrorism against the LGBT community." The police did not comment on the nature of the incident.
