Argentina’s authorities began intensive negotiations with Russia in order to achieve the new parties of the Vaccine from the Coronavirus “satellite V” to the country. But neither the volumes nor the supplies are unknown, the Argentinean newspaper La Nacion said on June 19, referring to senior sources. However, the Minister of Health Buenos Aires Fernan Kiros said that the start of sending new parties of the vaccine is expected on Thursday, June 24.
Many Argentines were vaccinated with the first component of the “satellite V” back in March-April of 2021, but still have not waited for a second vaccine. According to official figures, by mid -June, almost 7.9 million units of the first component of the vaccine were received in the country - and only a little more than 1.5 million units of the second component, that is, about five times less. Argentina authorities have already increased the period between the introduction of the first and second component up to 12 weeks.
“We ask Russia to send a second dose, because there are many people who have expired 12 weeks from the date of receipt of the first dose,” said La Nacion's source. He added that so far there is nothing to worry about, because even the first component of the satellite V vaccine showed the effectiveness of 78.6% and helps to avoid the severe course of the disease and death.
La Nacion sources in Buenos Aires medical circles say that by the end of June, the second component of the vaccine should receive about 70 thousand people. In the English -speaking twitter “Sputnik V”, some users ask when the second component of the vaccine will be sent to Argentina.
The Administration of the President of Argentina with the newspaper reported that Russia is faced with difficulties when increasing the production of the vaccine, so the authorities are worried about future supplies. In early June, Argentina announced the beginning of the production of the Russian vaccine at its own capacities and plans to soon establish production of up to half a million doses per week - but the success of this plan depends on the uninterrupted supply of the active ingredient of the vaccine from Russia.
The Bloomberg agency reported that, "despite Russia's promises to provide the injections of every tenth of the planet this year, foreign markets have a chronic lack of supplies." As an example, the agency led Argentina and Mexico, whose authorities in May also declared a shortage of the second component of “satellite V”. In the Russian Direct Investments (RDIPI), which is engaged in the export of the Russian vaccine, they told Bloomberg that deliveries go according to the plan, and the agreement of the fund with 25 manufacturers in 14 countries will release 1.6 billion doses of the vaccine in 2021.
Argentina became the second country after Belarus, which approved the use of "satellite V". The Russian vaccine began to be used in Argentina before other vaccines - the first parties arrived on December 24, 2020, and by mid -January, as Mediazona calculated , the first dose of the vaccine was in the first dose of the vaccine than in Russia without taking into account Moscow. Argentina President Alberto Fernandez told RIA Novosti that the Russian authorities were going to put 25 million doses of the vaccine in the country until the end of January.
In June, in several regions of Russia, including in Moscow, against the backdrop of a sharp increase in the incidence of Covid-19, mandatory vaccination for most officials, workers in the fields of trade, services, healthcare, transport and culture. According to the operational headquarters to combat Covid-19, in the last three days, 18, 19 and 20, Russia has identified more than 17 thousand new cases of coronavirus infection, about half of them are in Moscow.
