In the Altai Territory, the leader of the Uzbek diaspora was deprived of Russian citizenship. He was suspected of extremism

In Barnaul, one of the members of the Uzbek national diaspora, Batirzhon Kambarov, was deprived of Russian citizenship. Law enforcement authorities suspected him of extremism. Altapress reports this.

Kambarov publicly spoke out for the unification of emigrants from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan and against their separate settlement in the Altai Territory in order to preserve identity, culture and customs.

In addition, a member of the national diaspora organized a hostel with a strict religious regime for representatives of Central Asian countries. According to representatives of the special services, it was in this hostel that Kambarov provided shelter for a citizen of Tajikistan, who was put on the international wanted list and later detained in Russia.

Previously, Kambarov spoke out in defenseof the representative of the Tablighi Jamaat organization banned in Russia, Urmonjon Idrisov, who was sentenced in November 2017 to a year in prison on charges of involvement in the activities of an extremist organization.

• Supporters of Tablighi Jamaat regularly face persecution from Russian authorities. Thus, in February 2020, six citizens of Kyrgyzstanwere sent into custody in Moscow on suspicion of involvement in this organization. And in June, the capital’s security forces conducted searches and detained several Tablighi Jamaat supporters. Searches of supporters of the organization also took place in Mordovia on August 10: security forces seized more than a thousand “extremist” and religious books, detained several people and opened criminal cases against them. And in April 2021, law enforcement officers in the Omsk region detained 11 people on charges in connection with this movement.
