The largest mobile operator and Internet provider in the UK BT Group (formerly British Telecom) has announced that it is returning roaming with the European Union after Brexit, writes Bloomberg.
It's a 180-degree twist on what EE, the company's cellular division, said Thursday morning, the agency said. New customers (those who bought a plan from July 7th) will have to pay £2 a day from January to enjoy the "like at home" rate on the continent.
Customers will also be able to take advantage of special "European" roaming plans for a long period. The proceeds will be used to develop networks in the country, according to EE.
The Brexit transition period ended with the beginning of this year, but so far the British operator has promised not to return roaming. The "single" EU zone has been operating since 2017 - soft restrictions in it remained only on data transfer.
