In Crimea, the court decided to pay a political prisoner 190 thousand rubles for poor conditions in a pre-trial detention center

The Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Simferopol partially satisfied the claim of Kazim Ametov, a defendant in the Vedzhie Kashka case, against the pre-trial detention center. The judge awarded him a payment of 190 thousand rubles for inadequate conditions of detention in the cell. It is reported by "Crimean solidarity".

In Simferopol SIZO-1, Ametov was transferred to different cells several times. In some of them, the prisoners slept in turns, as there were not enough beds for everyone. In one of these cells there was no glass in the windows, and there was mold on the walls. Ametov spent a year and two months in custody, from November 2017 to January 2019, after which he was transferred to house arrest.

Ametov's lawyer Rustem Kamilev believes that the payment awarded is not enough - he demanded to appoint 521 thousand rubles as compensation. The defender plans to appeal the decision to the European Court of Human Rights after the announcement of the full ruling. “I focused the attention of the court on those documents that were put into office with a significant violation of the norms. In particular, this is an instruction on office work, which must be implemented in the penitentiary system and employees must comply with it, ”Kamilev comments.

Before the trial, Kazim Ametov was held in a temporary detention center as a measure of restraint. For inadequate conditions in the temporary detention facility, Ametov also asks the court to recover compensation from the Federal Penitentiary Service - 32,000 rubles.

• In November 2017, Kazim Ametov and other defendants in the Vedzhie Kashka case were detained in Simferopol. The men came to help pensioner Vedzhie Kashka, to return the money that Turkish citizen Yusuf Aitan received from her family by deceit.
• The Kievsky District Court of Simferopol in April 2019 passed a sentence on the defendants in the Vedzhie Kashka case. They were found guilty under the article on extortion committed by a group of persons (part 2 of article 163 of the Criminal Code). Ruslan Trubach, Bekir Degermendzhi and Kazim Ametov were sentenced by the court to three years of probation with three years of probation. The court sentenced Asan Chapukh to three and a half years of probation with a three-year probationary period.
• On April 12, the Sudak city court granted the petition of Kazim Ametov's defense and expunged his criminal record.
