Pregnant women are allowed to be vaccinated with Sputnik V

The Ministry of Health has authorized the vaccination of pregnant women with a high risk of severe disease with Sputnik V.

“Experts have decided to remove contraindications for the use of the Gam-Kovid-Vak vaccine [market name Sputnik-V] in pregnant women,” said Head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko at the presidium of the coordinating council under the government to combat COVID- 19 .

This decision was made taking into account the positive results of preclinical studies and data on the efficacy and safety of the vaccine in clinical trials and the post-registration period, Murashko specified. Pregnant women with a high risk of a severe course of the coronavirus disease will also be able to be vaccinated.

• Starting in July, the study of "Sputnik V" for teenagers in Moscow will begin . It will take place in three phases during the year, the age of volunteers is from 12 to 17 years. Based on the results, a decision will be made on the inclusion of adolescents in the COVID-19 vaccination program.
