From July 19 in England it is planned to lift most of the restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus. The final decision on this issue will be made on July 12. This was stated by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, reports "BBC".

In particular, the mandatory wearing of masks and keeping a distance, restrictions on the number of people who can gather together indoors and outdoors, and mandatory work from home will be canceled. All restrictions on business operations will also be lifted.

Removal of restrictions from July 19 is planned only for England - in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, the authorities will independently determine the date for the lifting of anti-coronavirus measures.

“If we can’t lift the lockdown in the next few weeks, when the arrival of summer and the school holidays help us, we need to ask ourselves: ‘When can we even lift it?’,” Johnson said.

The Prime Minister explained that the lifting of restrictions became possible due to the rapid pace of vaccination of the population. At the same time, he acknowledged the increase in new cases of coronavirus and stressed that the pandemic will not end after July 19.

In the UK, 68% of the population was vaccinated , of which 50% received both doses of the vaccine. The country is among the world leaders in vaccination rates.

Initially, the lifting of major coronavirus restrictions was scheduled for the end of June (this was included in the plan developed by the Boris Johnson cabinet in February). However, it had to be postponed for a month due to the rise in new cases of coronavirus.
