American entrepreneur Jeff Bezos steps down as Amazon CEO

American entrepreneur Jeff Bezos has officially stepped down as Amazon CEO, reports The Verge, citing information on the company's investor website.

Andy Jesse, who previously headed the Amazon Web Services division, has become the new CEO of the company in materials for investors. Jesse joined Amazon shortly after graduating from Harvard Business School in 1997 and has led AWS since the team's founding in 2003.

Bezos was the CEO of Amazon for exactly 27 years - from the day the company was founded on July 5, 1994. He, according to the portal, will remain chairman of the board and now intends to devote more time to other projects, including the Blue Origin company he created.

It was previously reported that Bezos, along with his brother Mark , as well as the 82-year-old first female flight safety inspector at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States, Wally Funk , will make a suborbital flight on the New Shepard spacecraft created by Blue Origin.

In addition, the Blue Origin space company will raffle one of the six places on the ship at an online auction, which will be held in three stages. According to plans, the funds will be directed to the Club for the Future fund, which is designed to stimulate and support people involved in natural sciences and engineering.
