In Irkutsk, the head of a boarding school was placed under house arrest for hiding the rape of a three-year-old boy by a pupil

A court in Irkutsk placed the director of a children's assistance center, Olga Vitko, under house arrest, because she did not report to the law enforcement agencies about the abuse of a three-year-old boy by another pupil. This was reported by Takiye Dela with reference to Karina Golovacheva, senior assistant to the head of the regional department of the Investigative Committee.

Vitko is accused of exceeding official powers (clause “c” of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, she knew about the violence, but did not report it to the police, but organized an internal investigation.

The Investigative Committee is also investigating a case of sexual assault against a person under 14 years of age (Part 4 of Article 132 of the Criminal Code). The investigation claims that a 12-year-old teenager “committed unlawful acts” towards a minor.

The center's teachers told Takim Dela that a 12-year-old ward of the boarding school raped boys aged three to seven years. Two employees resigned from the center after the administration ignored the incident.

In April 2021, investigators began working at the boarding school. As the publication wrote, they confirmed the fact of violence, but did not open a case, since the teenager was not yet 14 years old.

The staff of the institution noted that the boarding school pupil was scheduled to be admitted to the psychiatric ward once or twice a year. According to Takih Dela, Olga Vitko claimed that he did not have a mental illness, but only behavioral problems.
