The Mari website was blocked due to information about the self-immolation of an Udmurt scientist

Roskomnadzor has blocked the MariUver website dedicated to the Mari and other Finno-Ugric peoples, this is reported in the site's Facebook group.

The MariUver administrator writes that the site has been blocked due to material about an action in memory of the Udmurt professor Albert Razin. Due to the threat of the extinction of the Udmurt language and culture, he set himself on fire in September 2019. The RKN considered that the note on the site described a method of committing suicide.

The material was a reprint of a 2020 article published by Idel.Realii on the anniversary of the scientist's death.

The administrator of the group also noted that the federal state media publish such information.
