Politician Ilya Yashin announced his resignation from the post of head of the Council of Deputies of the Krasnoselsky District of Moscow - he associated this with pressure on the municipality. Yashin wrote about his decision on Facebook.
“The pressure has increased on the municipality of the Krasnoselsky district, which I have headed since 2017 after winning the local elections. The prosecutor's office is shaking the accounting department and the apparatus with endless checks. Our employees spend a significant part of their working time responding to requests from security forces,” the politician said.
Yashin believes that “the prosecutor’s office is carrying out a political order,” which is related to his opposition activities.
“At the end of the month my vacation will end, after which I will remain an ordinary municipal deputy working on a voluntary basis,” he added.
The politician also recalled that the court deprived him of the right to participate in elections for three years. He noted that appealing this decision “will take many years,” so the road to elections is effectively closed for him.
