A court in Murmansk forcibly hospitalized the former head of Navalny's headquarters

The Oktyabrsky District Court of Murmansk upheld the claim of Rospotrebnadzor for the forced hospitalization of the former coordinator of Navalny’s local headquarters, Violetta Grudina. Pavel Chikov, head of the international human rights group Agora, reports this with reference to lawyer Vladislav Zheinov.

Hospitalization will continue until a negative test for coronavirus is received. Rospotrebnadzor believes that Grudina violated the self-isolation regime. The activist denies this; she presented in court a negative coronavirus test made by an independent company. In addition, the doctor invited by Rospotrebnadzor stated that Grudina did not need hospitalization, but the court did not take this into account in its decision.

Grudina believes that the hospitalization is connected with her plans to participate in the elections of the Murmansk city council.

On July 9, Rospotrebnadzor and police officers came to Grudina’s home for forced hospitalization. In their opinion, the girl allegedly handed out leaflets on the street when she was sick with coronavirus. A criminal case was opened against Grudina under an article on violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules (Article 236 of the Criminal Code).

On June 29 and July 8, the police detained volunteers from Violetta Grudina’s election headquarters for posting leaflets.
In early April, Grudinafound leaflets in the mailboxes of her home accusing her of banditry and promoting LGBT values among minors. A few days later, she was summoned for questioning because of the scrawled inscription “Putin is a killer” (spelling preserved - OVD-Info ) on a sculpture of a whale in the city of Kola.
On June 9, 2021, the Moscow City Court recognized the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), the Foundation for the Protection of Citizens' Rights (FZPG) and the headquarters of Alexei Navalny as “extremist organizations.”
