The Ministry of Justice added the Institute of Law and Public Policy to the register of “foreign agents”

The Ministry of Justice recognized the research organization “Institute of Law and Public Policy” (IPLP) as a non-profit organization performing the functions of a “foreign agent”. This is stated on the ministry's website.

It was created in 1993, its board of trustees includes lawyer Henry Reznik, retired ECHR judge Anatoly Kovler and retired Constitutional Court judge Tatyana Morshchakova.

The organization reported that two days before being recognized as “foreign agents” they received an 85-page report from the Ministry of Justice on the results of an unscheduled inspection of the work of the STI, and continue to study the document.

“The research and practical activities of the Institute are not political. We do not agree with the decision of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and intend to appeal it. We will continue our work,” the message says.

The IPP prepared expert opinions for the ECHR and, until 2021 , for the Constitutional Court, helped Russians prepare applications there, published scientific journals, conducted legal seminars, and also provided legal protection - including to patients who had problems obtaining medications for and environmental activists.
