St. Petersburg “Sevkabel Port” fired the security guards who threatened the guys hugging on the embankment

On July 14, Petersburg resident Roman Bykov said on Instagram that he was threatened by security guards at the Sevkabel Port space because of hugs with another guy on the embankment.

In Bykov’s video, the man behind the scenes calls the guys “lost people,” says that “we live in an Orthodox country,” and demands that they “********* [leave] to Europe.” Bykov added that three guards and two men in sports uniforms wished them death and “hurled obscenities at them.” The young people left.

The press service of Sevkabel Port today, July 15, reported that the security guards who threatened visitors were fired, and promised to conduct “extended training and explanatory work” for the remaining employees. “We welcome guests of all genders, races, religions and orientations. We apologized to the visitor. <…> We are building a space for life, business and creativity, free from any manifestations of discrimination and prejudice. Space for everyone,” the press service added.
