Read about how they persecute the participants in the protest: “Ingush business”: who is judged for protests against changing the border with Chechnya. Hood OVD-Info .
Human rights activist Svetlana Gannushkina, the head of “Civil Assistance”, has been engaged in human rights in the Caucasus for many years. She told the OVD-Info that she visited Ingushetia with several colleagues immediately after clashes in the spring of 2019. Human rights activists tried on the spot to understand what was happening, to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
“The authorities of Ingushetia could not achieve that the protesters disperse. Then the Rosgvardists from other regions were sent. I would not let them in the place of Yevkurov. Because people came who do not understand anything in the Caucasian traditions, trained to disperse and commit violence. During the dispersal of the rally, the Ingush police made an independent decision: they stood with a thread between the elderly who were ahead of the rally, and the Rosgvardey. I think the Ingush police must be encouraged. They behaved as responsible people behave in force majeure. The Rosgvardists, not understanding anything, began to put pressure on the elders. If they injured one of the old people, there would be really big blood, ”Gannushkina said the OVD-info.
The protesters parted after the conversation with the elders. At the same time, 17 local employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were immediately fired, 13 of them became defendants in the case of non -fulfillment of the order by an employee of the internal affairs bodies: Article 286.1 of the Criminal Code - implies up to five years in prison. The dismissed unsuccessfully tried to recover in law enforcement agencies in court.
Timur Khamchiev is one of the defendants in the case of police officers, a former officer of the Ingush battalion of the patrol service. All 13 are under investigation - from this battalion. In total, about 50 fighters of the unit were present at the scene of events.
