The court upheld the preventive measure against the former head of Team 29, Ivan Pavlov.

The Moscow City Court upheld the ban on certain actions of lawyer and former head of Team 29 Ivan Pavlov. This was reported on his telegram channel.

The preventive measure was chosen in the case of disclosure of preliminary investigation data (Article 310 of the Criminal Code). There are 18 defense attorneys involved in the case, and Pavlov’s lawyers have provided the court with more than 500 sureties. They asked to allow Pavlov to use the Internet, but the court rejected all requests.

On July 18, Team 29 announced its closure.

• At the end of April, searches were carried out in the hotel room of the head of Team 29, lawyer Ivan Pavlov, and in his apartment in St. Petersburg, in the office of Team 29 and at the IT specialist of the project Igor Dorfman. During the investigative measures, security forces seized equipment and documents that were not related to the case and contained attorney-client privilege.
• According to the security forces, Ivan Pavlov, without the consent of the investigator, handed over to Vedomosti journalists a copy of the decision to bring Ivan Safronov as an accused. On the same day, the court chose a preventive measure for Pavlov in the form of a ban on certain actions in the case of disclosure of preliminary investigation data (Article 310 of the Criminal Code).
• “Team 29” specializes in protecting freedom of speech, leading the case of Ivan Safronov and a number of other criminal cases of treason and espionage . In addition, the project shares legal advice for various situations, produces podcasts, and publishes letters to political prisoners. The announcement of the cessation of activities was preceded by the blocking of the project website . The explanatory note from Roskomnadzor states that the project’s website contained certain materials from the organization Společnost Svobody Informace, registered in the Czech Republic and recognized as undesirable in Russia. “Team 29” denied the presence of materials from the Czech organization on the site.
• On June 29, 2021, the Prosecutor General's Office recognized as undesirable the organization Spolecnost Svobody Informace, ZS, registered in the Czech Republic (Freedom of Information Company, z.s., Freedom of Information Society, z.s.).
