The Moscow City Court upheld the ban on certain actions of Oleg Navalny, accused of inciting violations of sanitary and epidemiological standards (Part 1 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code with the application of Part 4 of Article 33 of the Criminal Code) in connection with the rally on January 23 in support of his brother Alexei Navalny. This was reported by MBKh Media with reference to lawyer Nikos Paraskev.
The court refused to satisfy the defense's complaint and cancel the preventive measure. Oleg Navalny is prohibited from leaving his home from 20:00 to 6:00, communicating with other defendants in the case, using any means of communication on the Internet for reasons related to the investigation of the criminal case, as well as sending and receiving postal and telegraph messages.
At the beginning of June, the Tverskoy District Court extended the preventive measure for Lyubov Sobol and Oleg Navalny until November 26. At the same time, their case was transferred to the Preobrazhensky District Court, since, according to the case materials, the end of the crime occurred at the pre-trial detention center-1 “Matrosskaya Tishina”.
- Charges of inciting violations of sanitary and epidemiological standards were brought against the brother of politician Alexei Navalny Oleg, former lawyer of the Anti-Corruption Foundation Lyubov Sobol, head of the Doctors' Alliance Anastasia Vasilyeva, municipal deputies Lyusa Stein, Konstantin Yankauskas and Dmitry Baranovsky, Pussy Riot member Maria Alekhina, to the former coordinator of Navalny’s Moscow headquarters Oleg Stepanov, FBK supporter Nikolai Lyaskin and Navalny’s press secretary Kira Yarmysh. The cases of Sobol, Navalny and Lyaskin are in court. The Yankauskas case was closed on July 14 at the investigation stage. On April 22, it became known that a defendant had appeared in the case, who, according to the investigation, succumbed to the calls of the main defendants and came to the rally, despite the fact that he was sick with coronavirus.
- In connection with the detention of Alexei Navalny, a series of protests took place throughout Russia. The largest protests took place on Saturday, January 23, and Sunday, January 31. Security forces reacted harshly to the protests: on January 23, more than 4,000 people were detained, and on January 31, more than 5,500 .
