The Moscow City Court commuted the sentence of Pavel Green-Romanov, a defendant in the “palace case,” by six months. On April 9, the Meshchansky District Court found Green-Romanov guilty under the article on the use of violence dangerous to life and health against a government official (Part 2 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, a man sprayed pepper gas in the face of a National Guard member on Komsomolskaya Square during a rally on January 31 in support of Alexei Navalny.
“The appellate court discloses only the resolution part; it does not explain the reasons for the decision,” Artem Nemov told OVD-Info. — Apparently, the court considered that the imposed punishment was too severe and should be mitigated. But there have been no structural changes in the prosecution.”
According to the lawyer, Green-Romanov is “holding up well,” although it is difficult for his wife to visit him in pre-trial detention. The convict is happy to change the sentence, however, Nemov adds, he would like more: “We will deal with this in the following instances.”
Pavel Green-Romanov participated in the meeting via video link from pre-trial detention center-2 in Solikamsk (Perm region). Hewas transported from Moscow before the verdict came into force.
