A Moscow environmental activist spoke about death threats for filming ash from a waste incineration plant

An opponent of the Moscow waste incineration plant in Nekrasovka, Alexey Medvedev, reported death threats. “Such things are happening” write about this with reference to the eco-activist himself.

According to Medvedev, on July 17, he recorded a violation of environmental legislation in Lyubertsy - he photographed ash flying from the plant at a bus stop. A black BMW car without license plates drove up to the activist, and six people got out.

“After asking what I was doing here, they started threatening me. They brought their fist to my face and, pressing me against the net, said that if I drove around the area like that and filmed videos, they would kill me. When I tried to call the police, they told me that if I didn’t put my phone away or try to take a photo of them, they would break it over my head,” Medvedev said.

He wrote a statement to the police. “Mediazona” has it at its disposal.

As Takiye Dela notes, environmental activists and other local residents have been fighting against the plant since 2018. Currently, two lawsuits initiated by citizens have been registered in court. In one of them they demand to suspend the operation of the plant, in the other - to declare illegal the decision to reduce the sanitary-protected zone of the plant
