On August 4 , Open Media reported that they had filed a lawsuit with the Zamoskvoretsky Court against the decision of the Ministry of Justice to grant them the status of a foreign media agent.
“This order is discriminatory, that is, it violates the constitutional principle of the equality of citizens, as well as the right to freedom to receive and disseminate information,” the newspaper writes.
The publication also asks the court to provide the documents that served as the basis for their inclusion in the list of foreign agents. According to Open Media, they were not notified in advance and that they had become foreign agents, they learned from a message on the department's website.
