The editor-in-chief of "Proekt" Roman Badanin and his deputy left Russia

The editor-in-chief of the publication "Proekt" Roman Badanin and his deputy Mikhail Rubin are in New York and do not plan to return to Russia. Badanin told Reuters.

As Badanin explained, when the publisher of “Proekt”, the American company Project Media Inc., was declared “undesirable”, he and his family were on vacation abroad and did not return to the Russian Federation.

Badanin noted that his stay in New York is “temporary” and he does not yet know where he will live permanently.

Badanin also said that the publication will continue to work from abroad. According to him, the journalists are planned to be moved to one of the countries located near Russia.

• Project Media, Inc. was declared an "undesirable" organization on July 15. The following day, Proekt reported that Project Media, Inc. was in the process of being liquidated and "no longer has financial relationships with any journalists working in Russia." The publication promised to continue publishing investigations.
• At the same time that Project Media Inc. was declared an “undesirable” organization, Badanin, Rubin and three other journalists from the project were added to the register of “foreign agent media.” Three more journalists from the “Project” were added there a week later.
