The authorities of Sakhalin Uglegorsk invited back the editor-in-chief of a local newspaper after all the journalists left

In the Sakhalin region, the administration of the city of Uglegorsk offered the editor-in-chief of the newspaper and television and radio company Uglegorsk News, Zinaida Makarova, to return to work after all the journalists had left. This was reported in the newspaper's Telegram channel.

“In the presence and with the consent of the team, I signed the agreement. We are ready to start working in the same mode, with the same composition and under the same conditions on August 21,” Makarova said. Information about her return to Sakhalin.info was confirmed by the administration.

The day before, July 29, 18 employees of Uglegorsk News quit due to a change in management. They noted that they were ready to return if the former leader was reinstated.

Makarova was fired on July 14, and on the same day the electricity in the editorial office was turned off. The publication of the newspaper was disrupted. Makarova linked her dismissal and pressure on the editors with publications about the Eastern Mining Company. Soon, the Investigative Committee opened a case of obstructing the work of journalists, and the mayor of Uglegorsk resigned.
