Roskomnadzor decided to block the website of the human rights project Gulagu.net for refusing to transfer user data

Roskomnadzor sent the founder of the Gulagu.net project , Vladimir Osechkin, who provides support to victims of torture in colonies, a notification about the imminent blocking of their website. The human rights activist published it on Facebook.

Roskomnadzor in the letter refers to the fact that Gulagu.net did not register in the register of “organizers of information dissemination” (ORI), which are supposed to store correspondence and user data and, upon request, transfer them along with encryption keys to law enforcement agencies.

Osechkin clarified in the comments to his post that on June 16, the Moscow City Court allowed the Moscow City Court to restrict access to their website at the request of Roskomnadzor . In December, the court rejected this request, finding that the department did not prove Osechkin’s involvement in the site. According to the June decision, the blocking will remain in effect until the requirements of the legislation on ARI are met.
