In St. Petersburg celebrates the day of the Airborne Forces. Contrary to the rain and the ban on holding mass events, the paratroopers held a procession along Millionnaya Street and gathered on Palace Square. Although the celebration is calm, there are jokes about fountains and irony on social networks that they will not punish anyone for violating restrictions against coronavirus. On the morning of August 2, war veterans, public figures and St. Petersburg politicians came to the Seraphim cemetery to lay flowers to the memorial to internationalist soldiers.

The solemn rally with the participation of the governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov was held in the square named after Vasily Margelov.

Today, the symbols of the landing troops can be found in all parts of the city: they walk along the streets with flags and drive in cars. Most celebrating gathered in the center of St. Petersburg.

The police do not interfere with them and does not disperse them, although earlier in Smolny it was reported that, on the recommendation of Rospotrebnadzor, mass events on the day of the Airborne Forces will not be carried out.
