The Ministry of Justice went to court to debar the former head of Team 29, Ivan Pavlov.

In St. Petersburg, the Ministry of Justice filed a lawsuit against the refusal of the Chamber of Advocates to deprive Ivan Pavlov of the legal status of Ivan Pavlov, the former head of Team 29 and defender of journalist Ivan Safronov. “According to my information, this lawsuit concerns challenging the decision of the council [of the Chamber of Lawyers], which refused to satisfy the submission of the Ministry of Justice on the termination of Pavlov’s [advocate] status for allegedly committing a disciplinary offense, expressed, in the opinion of the Ministry of Justice, in refusing to sign a non-disclosure agreement in the case of Ivan Safronov,” Meleshko quoted the agency as saying.

In August 2020, the Ministry of Justice appealed to the Chambers of Lawyers of Moscow and St. Petersburg with a demand to bring to disciplinary responsibility several lawyers of Ivan Safronov, including the former head of Team 29 Ivan Pavlov, due to the refusal of the defenders to give a non-disclosure agreement on the data of the preliminary investigation.
