The city court of St. Petersburg upheld the decision of the court of first instance on the choice of a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest for the deputy of the Legislative Assembly Maxim Reznik. This was reported in the United press service of the courts of St. Petersburg.

Reznik has been under house arrest in the case of buying drugs “for personal consumption” (part 1 of article 228 of the Criminal Code) since June 18. The initiation of a criminal case against the politician became known on June 17, the day after the announcement of elections to the regional parliament. That day, Reznik and his family were searched, and the politician himself was detained .

Reznik later announced the end of the election campaign.

Maxim Reznik is an opposition deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, a representative of the Party of Growth. He repeatedly faced pressure due to protest activism: in March 2021, Reznik was detained in Moscow at the Municipal Russia forum, in February 2020, a complaint was filed against the deputy because of his participation in an auction in support of political prisoners, he was also detained during the May Day march in 2019.
